Gionee Elife S5.5 octa core to be launched in india on 30 march



An invite for the Gionee Elife S5.5 launch event for India on March 30 has winged its way into our inbox. Gionee may be one of the lesser known handset manufacturers, but when it has to talk about the world’s thinnest smartphone which also happens to run on a 1.7GHz octa core processor, we’re mightily interested for sure.
Main features and likely price:
The press event will be happening in Goa on the aforesaid date. No mention of theGionee Elife S5.5′s price has been given. However, considering that its 3G variant costs around $370 on other shores, with the added taxes and what not, you may have to pay up to Rs 25,000 for the device in India.
While the price is just a rough estimate, we do have the specifications courtesy of the smartphone’s official appearances at various places across the globe. This Gionee handset is based on a customized version of Android called Amigo OS. It has an octa core processor of course, and an LTE version is supposed to be in the pipeline.
The front panel is taken up by a 5-inch full HD display and there’s a 5MP camera above it. The main snapper at the back boasts of being a 13MP resolution one. 2GB of RAM and a 2300mAh battery power the gadget. Lastly, it’s famed side profile of 5.5mm lends the 5.5 to the name of the phone.
